/What's FTC?

FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is an international robotics competition for high school students. Each year, teams are given a brand new game and just a few months to design, build, program, and drive a robot from scratch to compete in it. It's not just about building a robot — teams also manage a budget, run their own outreach and sponsorship, document their engineering process, and present their work to judges, alongside competing head-to-head on the field. It's part engineering challenge, part business, and part sport.

Our Team
TechMate

Techmate is the FTC robotics team from St Laurence's College, competing since 2023. Made up of around 8-9 students, our team designs, builds, and programs a competition robot from scratch each season. In our short time competing, we've already qualified for the FIRST Tech Challenge National Championship in Sydney — a strong result that reflects the hard work, problem-solving, and teamwork our members bring to every build season.
